lyrics

(0:12-0:26)
Where’s the fire inside ya?
Why’s it dyin’ while the world’s burnin’ right beside ya?
Where’s the fire inside ya?
Let it out, let it out
(0:26-1:07)
Listen to the rhythm,
Can you really hear its breath?
Come on take a step,
cuz there’s depth to discover,
as we quest to uncover
what’s been etched in the air that we share with one another.
Injustices are suffered, while we listenin’ disgusted.
Our eyes may get misted, but we quick to return to life- with no adjustments.
Concern ain’t really nothin’,
unless we’re learnin’ how to turn the tides and never stop our searchin’.
But first, we gotta learn to listen to the voices that are crushed within our system.
Trust that this is wisdom.
It’s a must, there’s no way different.
Drop defensiveness and listen,
‘til your vision isn’t drowin’ in your ego’s mental prison.
(1:08-1:22)
Where’s the fire inside ya?
Why’s it dyin’ while the world’s burnin’ right beside ya?
Where’s the fire inside ya?
Let it out, let it out
(1:21)
At the crux of this, it’s more than just resistance.
It’s not politics, opinions or statistics.
It’s our soul that’s been afflicted with vindictive wickedness.
The viciousness that we’ve inflicted still remains in us.
It’s flowin’ through our veins, it stains our aims and taints our touch.
I say this not to place some blame or to say we’re lackin’ love,
but a change ain’t gonna come until we see what we’ve become.
We can’t just flee the beast that we helped build, then say we’re done.
We’ve, at best, been still, when injustice chills our blood.
We’ve never done enough to end the hate, the anguish or build trust.
How do we attain to somethin’ different if we’ve never striven to adjust?
And its more than just a tweak we need, a form, or somethin’ we discuss.
We’ve torn asunder nothin’ more than just a layer of the dust.
Ain’t no way we gonna blaze a path to somethin’ just,
if we’re rooted in the pain and chains from where we’ve come up.
It’s not just feuds between some ‘them and us’.
The abusive roots run deeper than excuses or some pretense.
There’s just been so much.
(2:31)
Where’s the fire inside ya?
Why’s it dyin’ while the world’s burnin’ right beside ya?
Where’s the fire inside ya?
Let it out, let it out
(2:43)
There ain’t no mountain we can’t climb, though time is testin’ us.
If we’re only flounderin’, astounded by the depth of what’s in front of us,
we’re bound to do again what we have done
throughout our many times around the sun.
This ain’t a new sound that we’ve found,
it’s been around since just about day one.
But the force of hate don’t wane away as we just wait in vain
for someone else to do the labor, and there’s much.
If we concentratin’ only on what’s fleeting, like some money or some lust,
or some leisure or some stuff,
how we ever gonna find the force to finally reach our final push.
A tidal wave’s in front of us,
and we’re just standin’ stuck.
Some are frantic, some are tryin’ to cause some panic,
while some others gettin’ ready for some ruckus with their blinders up.
Rhymers, time to rid ourselves of fluff.
Let your spit uplift these rhythms hidden underneath the crust.
There ain’t no riddle to this, use your voice instead a’ sleepin’ through the floods.
This is love.
(3:53)
Where’s the fire inside ya?
Why’s it dyin’ while the world’s burnin’ right beside ya?
Where’s the fire inside ya?
Let it out, let it out
(4:07)
Listen to the rhythm,
Can you really hear its breath?
Come on take a step,
cuz there’s depth to discover,
as we quest to uncover
what’s been etched in the air that we share with one another.
But where’s the fire inside ya?
Where’s the fire inside ya?
Let it out, let it out
